INDIANAPOLIS

Saturday, 11/06/99

After one night in Columbus we're heading to Indianapolis. In the Peace and Justice Center a Teach-In on the WTO is hold. "When I listened to Rony from Israel speaking about the Israelian truck corridor, I thought: Hey, wait! That is our highway!", says David Agranoff of ESE, Education for a sustainable environment. That is exactly such a truck corridor as the Interstate 69, going all its way from Canada to Indianapolis. And now they want to let it go down to Mexico. That means 10.000 trucks every day through our communities."

The focus of this teach-in are alternatives to Corporate-directed Globalization and Trade Agreements. "I don't call sustainable energies alternative. Already my Grandmother used sunpower", Sanjay explains. So what we say is this: what kind of development are you thinking of? All human beings should have equal options to grow, to participate in decision making, in modern language: access to resources as water, land and forest.

In between we rename in a ceremony the Radio Corporation of America - Dome (RCA) in Radio Corporation of Mexico (RCM) in honor of the move of jobs to Mexico and in honor of the working conditions for the people in the Maquiladora-Industry.

After our protests:
now it's the battery. But we've got lots of help, so what.
