First of all, we have to keep in mind that, according to the press articles you find in this website, not only Evian, but also the surroundings will be confined in a "security sphere" on land, on water and in the air.
Second, the reason why M.Chirac has chosen Evian for this summit is because this town can be accessed almost only by a narrow road stretching along the french coast.

Now, let's check the different choices for maximum chances to get as close as possible to Evian. We'll see how to try to get into the town itself in the next section.

The worst choice would be to try to come from the eastern coast road. As it's litterally crushed between the lake and the cliffs, there's not more than 50 m of flat land (in some parts, less than 10) and so is it extremely easy to block.

Coming from the west is a much better idea idea. As this area is made of pretty flat and wide land, it's going to be much harder to control.

Another possibility is to try to approach Evian coming from the South through one of the two valleys called "Vallée de la Dranse" and "Vallée d'Abondance", that you can see on the wide scale map or on the satellite picture above ("Vallée de la Dranse" is the one that comes horizontally to Evian from the right of the picture and "Vallée d'Abondance" is the one just above).

Once you are closer to Evian, the choice that seems the best is to come down to the town from the forest that spreads above the town (=south from town). This area is made of a pretty dense forest that will make detection quite difficult.

Plus, this is the place where the most luxurious hotels of Evian are, which can be interesting alternative targets in case the town is too hard to reach.
