Hidden refugee falls to her death

Sunday 9th April BY MATTHEW BAYLEY Sunday Times A WOMAN refugee trying to enter Britain was crushed to death last night when she fell from the lorry she had hidden in. The woman, whose nationality is not known, was run over as the articulated vehicle pulled away from traffic lights in Silverhill, St Leonards, East Sussex. Sussex Police believe that she had been climbing on the outside of the lorry when she fell under the wheels of the rear trailer at about 6pm. The police said that the woman was standing on the towing hitch between the two trucks when the lorry pulled away, dislodging her and throwing her on to the road and under its rear wheels. Drivers of cars behind the lorry tried to help the woman before paramedics arrived at the scene. She was taken by ambulance to the Conquest Hospital, St Leonards, but died later of her injuries. Four other people hidden in the lorry, which entered Britain through Dover, were arrested under the Immigration Act. The vehicle\\\\'s Austrian driver had to be treated for shock. He was not arrested. The lorry was on its way to an industrial estate in St Leonards.
