discussion of racism/sexismvon noborders - 01.07.2002 17:39 The crossover of the relations of opression racism and sexism has come up again and again during the last noborder camps ether as side point or as a main subject, for example last year in frankfurt as a debate about the women/lesbian area on the camp. According to the crossover of these two forms of repression there has been different groups and persons who have put more impact on ther one or the other form. In the history of political organizing this had lead again and again to seperations and diferent priorities. So the priority of the no-border-camp lies more on racism for example whereas the summercamp has put the priority on sexism and gender. As the women/lesbian group no borders from Bremen we want to give the same weight on both, sexism an racism an we would like to help opening a space on the camp for this. We would like to know if and what group yet thought about this discussion and /or prepared something konkret. We are interested in working together and we also could imagine to come to Jena one day earlier to prepare something together. Until now we thought about doing a workshop that puts the focus of each person on the discussion with herself/himself and her/his structures of power/oppression respectively (or) their dealing with her/his own previleges. and olso on the question, how to develop and extend a common political work on the camp and further alliances. We think thatfor it is important to make transparent and in some cases discuss anew the decisions and the putative self-evidences. Our idea was until now to discuss it in seperated and mixed small groups. We would be glad if you contact us. |
