Melbourne, Sydney, Prague: Australia kicks off red & black September on S11... with a little help from London

On September 11th thousands of protestors will begin a week of actions in Australia by attempting to shut down the meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF).

This is THE ultimate old boys club: you have to be one of the top 1000 companies in the world to belong to it. No one elected them, but its members determine the agenda of governments and international financial agencies such as the IMF and World trade organisation (WTO). Indeed the WEF claims that they thought up the whole idea of the WTO and pushed for it's creation, back in one of its meetings in the early nineties.

Meanwhile protestors in North America successfully organised to shut down the WTO last November in Seattle. Police cars and walls were scrawled with the words "we win". Now similar movements are developing in Australasia against the WEF (the S11 action) and in Europe against the 55th annual general meeting of the IMF and World Bank in Prague (S26). The aim in both is to put the spotlight on these invisible organisations and expose their operations for ordinary people to see, and try to obstruct their meetings in order to ruin their

pro-business agenda.

S11 kicks off Red and Black September. Starts Monday September 11th,5.00pm
at the old Shell Mex centre, Strand.

That's were London comes in. The September 26th collective made up of Socialist, Anarchists, human rights and Environmental activists have been organising and mobilising over 1,500 activists in the UK to go to Prague to stop the IMF and World Bank who in their 55 year history, as agents of the Capitalist system, have forcibly displaced over 10 million people in sponsored dam projects, created a situation were 1.2 billion people live in abject poverty, over 12 million children die each year due to poverty related illness. The list goes on.

Our action is in solidarity with the S11 demonstrations and the organised protests against the Olympic games which will focus on many themes. The corporatisation of sport and life, were everything in the stadium is saturated with logos and brand names many of whos products are made by the forced labour of children in sweatshops based in the so-called developing economies of China, Indonesia and Vietnam.

September 26th is set to put the Global revolt against capitalism at the heart of every social struggle for years to come with the momentum from other Global days of action like June 18th (J18), November 30th (N30) and May day 2000. Onwards to Prague!

For the liberation of everyday life. For a global society based on our needs not capitalist greed
