The cross Canada Caravan to expose the World Trade Organization is on. Social and community activists will be touring across Canada visiting 20 communities as part of a growing worldwide resistance to corporate rule. The Caravan will stop along the way to highlight the WTO threat to our communities. To make up for corporate and government secrecy, participants will seek to provide information along the way that corporate proponents of the WTO would sooner not discuss. Quite simply, the WTO is little more than a United Nations for transnational corporations and aglobal government for the rich.

Virtually no area is out of bounds in the thirst for shareholder profits. Water, postal services, hospitals, farms, schools, etc, are seen by investors worldwide as an opportunity to make profits at the expense of communities. Shareholder profits have become the primary goal in the global marketplace. Things like justice, a clean environment and happiness do not appear on the balance sheet. The cross Canada Caravan will highlight the things left out like democracy, peace, a clean environment, jobs, etc.

The WTO has also become a vehicle of the rich countries in their effort to extract even more profit from the south. The major economic playershave far too much control of the global economy and are promoting north-south inequality without regard to local needs. The Caravan is part of the growing worldwide resistance to totalitarian trade deals promoted by transnational corporations.

The Caravan will kick off on November 4 at the hemispheric free trade talks in Toronto. It will make it's way across Canada and on November 26 it will leave Vancouver for Seattle. The Caravan participants will arrive for the International Forum on Globalization and to participate in November 30 actions. Life is more than a free market gambling casino. The Caravan is only one stage in the growing resistance to the World Trade Organization. Please join us in supporting the Caravan in your community.
