IMF/World Bank Meetings Will Be Held in OTTAWA (Nov. 16th to18th)

We must organize a HUGE CONVERGENCE to counter this!! Is there enough time??

Paul Martin has just announced today (Wednesday) that the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank will be meeting in Ottawa on Nov.16-18. This is the alternative to the cancelled summit in DC for Sept 29th/30th. He has announced that Canada, after successfully hosting the NATO Conference a week and a half ago, is the ideal location for the IMF/WB to meet. What's more is that also converging upon Ottawa that weekend will be the G20.

So there will be 3 international undemocratic institutions of global capital arriving in Ontario Nov.16-18.

Development Committee, International Monetary And Financial Committee to Meet in Ottawa, Canada November 17-18, 2001

PRESS STATEMENT

The President of the World Bank, James D. Wolfensohn, and the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Horst Khler, after consultation with the institutions' Boards of Executive Directors, and with the chairmen of the Development Committee (DC), and the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC), Yashwant Sinha and Gordon Brown, are pleased to accept the invitation made by the Canadian Finance Minister, Paul Martin, to host meetings of the IMFC and DC in Ottawa on November 17-18, 2001.

These meetings will bring together ministers and central bank governors from around the world to discuss issues of importance to the membership of the IMF and World Bank, especially the global economic outlook in the wake of the tragic events of September 11 and their impact, in particular, on the poorest; the ongoing work to improve the stability of the international financial system; and preparations for the forthcoming United Nations Conference on Financing for Development.
