Visit from the Water Coordination of Bolivia Date: Tue, 27 Nov 2001 00:26:44 +0000 Friends, Omar Fernandez, Presidente de la Federacion Cochabambina de Regantes y portavoz de la Coordinadora de Defensa del Agua y de la Vida, is going around Italy in early december and going to Brussels for the 13-15 dec (European summit). Are there groups in other parts of Europe which would like to have him come and talk? Louise, do you know about this? EuroDusnie, would you be interested? The Coordinadora blocked the privatisation of water law last year, threw out the multinational that had taken over and is now administering the water in a fantastic example of autonomy and self-management. There is also a vidéo and a beautiful photo expo of the uprising. Rather a different angle to bring to the slightly limited european debate on public services! The italian trip is planned from the 3 to the 13 of december. We would like him to come to Geneva as soon after as possible (17 th for example). Of course the Christmas holiday will limit things soon after. He has still not the visa, so there's nothing confirmed. There might be possibilities to make some more meetings (starting from sunday 16 december) but: 1) there must be someone that travel with him during this days (Ya Basta will travel with him until the Brussel mobilization) 2) it has also to be checked if the return day for the ticket airplane can be changed, so we must act fast. 3) and, last but most important, it has to be seen with him if it is possible to stay longer (We are writing already to Cochabamba to know.) If there is someone interested in this proposal we have to organise an agenda of the new meetings (with the persons who will travel with him) quickly. Olivier
