Invitation to an European Antiracist Meeting

European Antiracist meeting
in Cologne, Germany, May 30th, 1999.

Between 30.000 and 50.000 people are expected to participate in the massive demonstration of the European Marches against Unemployment, Marginalisation and Racism on the 29th of May in Cologne. The demonstration aims at uniting the struggles of social movements and grassroot groups from all over Europe. Participants will come from a wide variety of backgrounds but they stand united against the neoliberal order established in the Europe of Maastricht and Amsterdam. A lot of anti-racist from all over europe will participate in the huge march, giving us the opportunity to voice our protest against the racist order in the "Fortress Europe".

To benefit from the opportunity of a European presence, we would like to propose a European Antiracist Meeting on the day after the demonstration. We invite everybody who is interested in discussing common perspectives of European antiracist struggles and who are interested in mutual exchange. Our proposal for the meeting aims at preparing a common mobilisations for the upcoming events on the European level, such as the Special European Summit on Migration in Finland (October) and the Anti Border Campaign (August), and to discuss further perspectives of co-operation.

Program

Part One 10am-12

Part Two 12-1pm

"From Maastricht/Schengen to Amsterdam - New Developments in EU Migration Policy"

We propose the meeting to be semi-public, e.g. we won't hand out flyers all over the place, but this invitation is sent out to a lot of groups all over Europe and will also be published on the mailinglists. Please distribute the invitation to anyone who may be interested!

To avoid the anonymous atmosphere of a conference where people come and go anytime, we would like to ask you to register under the following address. Further information will then be sent out, as soon as the programme is completed.

Conference language will be English, please support us with translation and interpreters!

In Solidarity,

Hagen
