Support for traumatised campaigners
Tue 14 Jun 2005

A SUPPORT group has been established to help traumatised activists who attend G8 protests in the Capital.

A two-day meeting will be held this weekend in Oxford to discuss a range of support options, including how to look after people released from prison.

The event has been organised by Activist Trauma, a group of anti-capitalist campaigners who have experienced post-traumatic stress disorder or other mental health problems.

Members will be travelling to Edinburgh from July 2 to join a series of massive protests, including the Make Poverty History march on the first Saturday in July, and the anarchist Carnival for Full Enjoyment on Monday, July 4.

They hope to create a "chill out" area for people in Edinburgh who have come out of prison, medical treatment for protesters, and long-term support through therapists.
