Anti G8 campaigners will today hand in an application to Perth and Kinross council to allow them to demonstrate against the summit.

They are planning a peaceful protest at Gleneagles on the 6th of July, the opening day of the meeting, against the occupation of Iraq, global poverty and to highlight climate change.

Gill Hubbard from G8 Alternatives said: "We are getting very frustrated that the leaders of the world are incapable of actually solving some of the world's most serious problems. And that's why we are not just going to be demonstrating, we are also going to be holding an alternative summit."
