Hi everyone,
As you know WTO Ministerial Conference will take place in Hong Kong from 13th to 16th December. I will not going to explain here all the damage of such institutions, since all of you have a clear idea about what is WTO.
In Indiawhen WTO was created in 1995, the death penalty for peasant was signed. Prof. MD. Nanjundaswamy stated at that time that farmers would soon start to kill themselves. He didn't mistake. Since then more than 80000 peasants have committed suicide in India alone. If the Doha agenda and the Agreement on Agriculture go on, the consequences for poor people and peasants in India, as in all over the world, will be disastrous.
Since the creation of WTO, Indian farmers have been organized to fight against it. In 2000 the Indian Coordination Committee was created and since then the campaign “WTO out of Agriculture. India out of WTO” has become stronger and stronger. It was thank to the permanent mobilizations, actions, caravans and protests that the Indian government leading G20 made the Cancun Ministerial Conference failed.
Now, we MUST stop the Hong Kong conference. But for that it is important to mobilize BEFORE the Ministerial Conference. We have to tell the governments before they close their agenda for the conference, that the so-called civil society has a strong voice. A voice, which is demanding to end the craziness of the criminal policies imposed by WTO.
On 9th December, Indian Coordination Committee of Peasant Movements (ICC) is organizing demonstrations, rallies, symbolic actions, etc in every district of the Indian states where our organizations are present.
Then, we call all of you to mobilize with us on 9th December in all your cities, your village, to organizes actions, rallies, informative distribution of leaflets...
