As many as 15 people may have been arrested today at Fort Benning. One arrest has been confirmed by the SOA Legal Collective, and an estimated 10- 15 more people may have been detained.

It is being reported by witnesses that the confirmed arrest involved an activist who was standing near the gate, possibly picking up trash. Military police on the other side of the fence reportedly gave his description to local police, who picked up the activist and brought him to MP's. Witnesses said they saw him being taken away in a white van on Fort Benning's base. So far, the SOA Legal Collective said they do not know if he has been transferred to Muscogee County Jail, or any other facility. The IMC was unable to ascertain what, if any, charges have been filed.

Meanwhile, around a dozen people may have been arrested after accidentally driving onto the Fort Benning base. The Legal Collective said last year, activists who did this were charged with running a checkpoint. So far, their arrests have not been confirmed, but four passengers of one car, who have now been released, said they were detained after driving onto the base. They told the Legal Collective that the driver of their vehicle was still being detained.

The IMC attempted to contact Fort Benning officials to comment on the alleged arrests, but so far, no one has returned our calls.
