Subject: Ernst & Young [India] Plagiarises Dam Impact Report

I have been a passive participant in the most engaging discussions of Water Forum. I would thus believe that an effort of ours I have to share would be relevant to this forum as well.

The international consulting firm Ernst & Young was asked to prepare a Rapid Envt Impact Assessment (REIA) for the Dandeli Hydel Project across Kali river in the Karnataka part of Western Ghats forests. In so doing, they completely plagiarised from a draft REIA conducted last year for the Tattihalla Dam. 60 of the 65 pages of the Ernst & Young EIA are a verbatim reproduction of the Tattihall report.

We exposed this fraud and I am happy to share the Indian Express provided our serious concerns, front page exposure yesterday. [snip]

We have also extracted selections of both EIAs and placed them on a website along with our Release and Appeal for Action. The link for this is:

An Indian Express article can be sourced from that website also. And there is a report in Singapore's Strait Times today:

I will be most willing to respond to any queries on this.

Best wishes
