D20-21 Yugoslavia

Great success.

In Novi Sad there was a brilliantly organized public lecture with presentations of books and magazines, films about Argentina and related talks.

Belgrade, last night (21.), was a smashing success: 500 people attended. In a jovial atmosphere everybody participated in the demonstration of solidarity with Argentina, letting people know about the similarity of South Eastern Europe and Argentinean fate. People who were speaking, political bands who were addressing the issue, speakers who were more than excellent.

The most exciting detail, however, was a solidarity report from a women who is a member of a "committee of disappeared" (people who had lost their family members in Yugoslav wars). Hardly more apt analogy could be made, after talks focusing on Argentinean and Yugoslav history and IMF policies in Yugoslav region.

It was a party, it was a political debate, it was a concert, it was a cultural happening: it was a beautiful demonstration of international solidarity.
